The LIVONIA SENIOR MEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION was established in the early 1970s by a small group of avid senior golfers. Although we are unsure of its original size and structure, it is obvious that the Association became quite popular, with its membership exceeding 300 after a number of years. Today the Association includes senior men ages 59 and up, regardless of residency. The Association functions under an individual competition format, with members establishing a nine-hole handicap, through any combination of 18 hole or nine hole rounds, then competing in tournament play the second and third weeks in September. Members compete in two play-in stroke play rounds the first week, and the low eight qualifiers in each of the five flights then compete in match play rounds the second week to decide the flight champions and runners up.
The great feature of our Association is that members may play any of the three Livonia courses, with members or non-members, any time they choose to play. For those individuals who have no playing partner(s), we, along with the staff of the Livonia courses, make every effort to match you up with other singles of similar handicap, or find an available foursome you may want to join.
